Their remarkable achievements didn’t come easy, however.
The first obstacle the legions had to overcome was their rivalry with each other. Iron, Ash, and Blood each laid claim to the throne of the Khan-Ur (supreme commander) of the charr nation. However, without the Claw of the Khan-Ur (a powerful totem signifying the right to rule), no single legion has the support required to take the throne. The Iron Legion is in the best position to seize control, having retaken Ascalon and rebuilt a citadel on the ruins of Rin. Within Ascalon, troops from each legion support Smodur’s cause to reclaim these southern charr lands from their human enemy. Make no mistake: the charr may not be at humanity’s throat like they once were, but they are still essentially a massive, well-armed and well-trained military unit. All charr serve, if not as soldiers, then as logistical support for soldiers, providing food, weaponry, transport, d3 game guide and whatever else the legions need. All three legions coexist in the Black Citadel, along with a handful of norn, sylvari, asura, and even a few humans. By Smodur’s command, the Iron Legion allows just about anyone to visit and even settle there, so long as the visitors don’t cause trouble, but the leadership never lets anyone forget whose city it is, or the fact that everyone else is just a guest in their house. Old Foes
Currently, the most pressing of these enemies are two stubborn relics of the past that refuse to die: the Flame Legion and the restless ghosts of Ascalonian humans who still haunt the ruins of their former kingdom. The Flame Legion has been broken, but it still exists, and it still seeks to reclaim the power it once had, through guile, subterfuge, and magic. In the past, the Flame Legion worshipped nightmarishly powerful entities like the titans in exchange for magical might. These days, the other legions keep a close eye on the Flame Legion to prevent them from unleashing any more otherworldly terrors in their lust for power—but that doesn’t stop the Flame Legion from trying.
The Flame Legion is so reviled that the average charr distrusts magic-users as a whole, and expresses open hostility to the concept of worshipping any beings called “gods.” To the modern charr, beings such as Grenth, Lyssa, and Melandru are merely powerful entities, not gods. Charr respect the forces such beings command, but would never kneel before them as if they were divine.

Biology &The Nightmare Court

Biology
Sylvari biology is very different from any other race. They do not have internal organs, but instead are formed of growing plant matter, sap for blood, leaves and bark for skin. A jaw, for example, can be formed by leaves, vines, or even shards of bark that grow and press together to form the silhouette, but if you look closely you can still see the fibers and holes of the structure. Instead of bones, an arm is a mass of tightly-woven stems and leaves that work together to do the work of such a limb.
Many scholars hypothesize as to why the sylvari look human-like at all instead of having a monstrous form, such as other “vegetable” races possess. Some suggest that the Pale Tree saw mostly humans during her youth. Individuals such as Ronan, who planted the seed, and others around the Pale Tree may have been physical role models for her eventual children. A popular asura theory is that the Pale Tree was planted on the graves of Ronan’s daughter and his ruined village, d3 gold and their ”discorporate mass” was absorbed into the ground. The Pale Tree took nourishment from that soil, and therefore, the sylvari are predisposed to be shaped in a humanoid manner.
Sylvari do sleep, and they can eat both meat and vegetables. They drink, as other races do, and they get tipsy on alcoholic beverages. They gain enjoyment from sitting in the sunlight—and it invigorates them—but can’t live on it as plants do. Their blood is a sticky sap, and though they can bleed, they do not have blood pressure or a pulse.
No one knows how long the sylvari live. The oldest of their race are the firstborn, all of whom awakened twenty-five years ago. Sylvari show little signs of growing old, and none have yet died of advanced age. Physically, sylvari are male or female, and the relevant external biology is accurate on both, but they cannot sexually reproduce as the other races do; they have no internal organs capable of diablo 3 gold creating children. Whether they have their own methods of reproduction outside of the Pale Tree has yet to be seen.
Sylvari grow their armor and much of their clothing. Their bodies create petal-like coverings, vines, and leaves that they shape into pleasing garments. Some sylvari wear armor made by other races or weave clothing in a more traditional manner, just out of preference. As an adopted custom, they cover themselves as humans do, concealing certain portions of their anatomy where it seems culturally appropriate.

“Would you do evil in my name?” The Pale Tree sighed. “Would you cause devastation, as the charr do? Or justify wickedness in the name of knowledge, as the asura do? No, Cadeyrn. We come into this world to destroy the dragons. We must not lose ourselves in that challenge.”
“Have we not already lost ourselves, Mother? We are not centaurs or humans. Let me destroy the tablet, and we will see what it truly means to be sylvari.” There was no answer. As dawn rose and bathed the clearing in gold, Cadeyrn realized that the tree would say no more.
“She will not hear you.” The quiet voice was feminine, but it was not the tree who spoke. Spinning, Cadeyrn guild wars 2 gold readied himself for battle but froze when he saw Caithe, cold and still, standing in the last shadows of night. “She will not hear you,” Caithe repeated.
“I am the first of my generation—” he began, raising his voice in argument.

Caithe lingered in silence and watched him go.
The Nightmare Court
“A true sylvari should have two hearts: one soft and pliable as hot wax, and the other as hard and impenetrable as an icy diamond. The first, he should show to his companions, the second, to his enemy. Woe to the one for whom the two are the same.”—Dagonet
The Nightmare Court buy wow gold are sylvari who embrace the darkest parts of their nature, relishing a terrifying nightmare that contains as much horror as the Dream holds inspiration. Their dark vigils are things of legend, filled with depravity, twisted courtliness, and sadistic tournaments that pervert sylvari chivalry. Their greatest ambition: to turn the Pale Tree to nightmare.
These sylvari reject the teachings of Ventari’s tablet and claim that the influence of outside races perverted the true nature of the Pale Tree and the sylvari. They seek the shadow within the Dream, turn away from what they deem false morality, and explore the darker side of their personality. Cold, cruel, and without mercy, they see themselves as true sylvari, untainted by the influence of Ronan, Ventari, and the lessons of the tablet. They consider it to be their noble purpose to bring others of their race away from that forced behavior and into darkness.
With each act of cruelty and evil, they add more nightmares to the tree and hope, one day, to change the balance, turning the Mother to their side. Certainly, as the tree gathers emotions and memories, she draws from the Nightmare Court as well as their kinder brethren, and her pool of memories swells with both dark and light thoughts. The Nightmare Court believe that, if they can propagate more dark emotions, the pool will become more and more touched by nightmare, and new sylvari will tend away from the ethics that were forced upon them by Ventari and his followers.
In order to achieve this goal, the Nightmare Court commit acts of evil both upon sylvari and non-sylvari alike. When their own emotions become too jaded to be likely gathered into the tree, they rely on harming and tormenting other sylvari and giving them memories, horrible emotions, and other traumas in the hope that those memories will be sharp enough to be gathered. The more awful their crimes, the more likely it is that the Pale Tree will carry the memory into her well of emotions, passing those inclinations on to her next generation.

Today is Lunar New Year’s Day, and according to the Asian zodiac system, the first day of the Year of the Dragon. It’s an auspicious omen for all of us at ArenaNet, as we get ready to make this our own Year of the Dragon.

Sylvari – The Elves of Guild Wars 2!

The sylvari, together with the asura, are the races we haven’t yet gotten to play either in the closed beta or during the first beta weekend event. They both were playable during some gaming conventions (like GamesCom 2011), so we know they exist in a playable state, at least! But of course, not having been able to play them myself, I am very curious about them. I know I will love asura. There’s just no doubt about that. But what about the sylvari?
For me, they come close to what elves represent in other fantasy games. Think of your standard fantasy settings and now think of how many games diablo 3 gold paypal include some kind of elves: Lord of the Rings Online, World of Warcraft, Everquest, Rift,… the list goes on. Elves are usually the fragile, elegant, gracious, wise and oooooold race. The sylvari are all of that with one exception; They are a very young race with the oldest sylvari being 25 years old. I’d assume that sylvari will most likely be the race to play when you’re usually an elf-lover because of their looks. But from their personality and their background, they’re rather diablo 3 items unique.

Let’s take a look at the sylvari: They can have elf-like ears (pointed, that is, in case you didn’t know). You can find a video showing the early sylvari character customization here (it starts at around 3:30). Their ears are pointed because they’re leaf-shaped. Which, oddly enough, is what Tolkien had in mind for his elves (see Wiki entry above). But it’s not that easy. Sylvari aren’t simply “the elves”. You have to look a bit closer to see the differences between gw2 gold elves (or humans) and sylvari. They are, in fact, plants that were built after humans because the Pale Tree, out of which they were “born”, knows what humans look like and modelled the sylvari after them. ArenaNet had published a blog post about Kristen Perry’s redesign of the sylvari (they did actually look very much like regular elves before).

Sylvari have a basic understanding of the world that the Pale Tree gave them. But the Pale Tree only knows what it has seen and what was left written on cheap gw2 gold a tablet in front of it. So of course, sylvari don’t know everything and especially not the finer nuances of relationships, conversations, humour and so on. Some concepts don’t exist for them. Something like “normal” is a foreign word if you haven’t established yet what the “norm” actually is. There are things they don’t know about themselves like ‘how old do they get?’. Will they age or whither?

What piques my interest in this race is, apart from the gorgeous and unique looks, the opportunity to play a race that is exploring and discovering the world while I, as a player, am doing exactly the same. I can already see myself walking through the world, through the cities and up to the highest mountains (I always do that in every MMO where I can climb on mountains) and I, as well as my character, will get to see all of this for the very first time. I will figure out who I am in this game just as my sylvari character (most likely a necromancer, thanks to Killeen) will find out more about herself and the world around her. At this point, I also assume that the personal story will reflect that but I haven’t heard anything about their story yet.

Those screenshots were all taken in Lion’s Arch and you can see that they’re all wearing their race’s clothes with the exception of one sylvari who’s a guard on a tower. •Arcane Orb – Fires off an orb of energy which will explode when it hits, dealing AoE damage. It costs 35 Arcane Power, so you will run out of AP by the 5th cast if you chain-cast it. It does not pierce through targets without runes and does not deal very much damage. It also travels really slowly, which allows enemies to occasionally dodge it.
•Energy Twister – Launches a twister which moves randomly for quite a long distance and deals damage per second to anything standing on it. Also fairly useless as the damage is pretty low. The Alabaster Rune also makes it look like this will be a great spell to use against bosses – it will deal a lot of damage to any powerful stationary target.
•Disintegrate – Fires out a straight beam of rift platinum energy which pierces all targets. Does not deal much damage to a single target, but it can be useful if your enemies are lined up due to the piercing effect. Perhaps the “Intensify” version will be more viable against single targets.
Utility Spells
•Frost Nova – Freezes (stuns) all enemies in a small radius for 4 seconds and deals a small amount of damage. Costs no Arcane Power but has a 12 second cooldown. Useful for escaping from a crowd of tough enemies. Seems to have a shortened duration or weakened effect versus bosses (i.e. Skeleton King). Looks like it will be a solid spell with Cold Snap (runed ability), which reduces the spells cooldown to 5 seconds. d3 gold This means you can use it repeatedly against tough bosses since it costs no AP to cast.
•Ice Armor – Ice Armor is the first of several armor spells that Wizards get. It gives you 50% bonus armor, slows attackers for 2 seconds, and causes a small amount of damage. Good for any situation where the enemies are tough and you need more armor or want to kite them. It lasts for two minutes so you can keep it active all the time.
•Magic Weapon – Increases your physical damage by 20% for 60 seconds. This buff can be kept up all the time. You cannot use this spell unless you have an actual melee weapon. This is for a melee Wizard build that is using Spectral Blade.
•Diamond Skin – Absorbs damage (up to a limit) over 5 seconds. Costs no Arcane Power but has a 25 second cooldown. In the beta, the damage is very small so it is not very useful. It looks like Runes will make it a lot better (absorbing 6900 damage with an Obsidian Rune, for example).
•Storm Armor – Deals lighting damage to all attackers. Lasts two minutes so it can be kept active at all times. You can only choose 1 armor spell at a time, so you have to pick between Storm Armor and Ice Armor. Since you can only access Normal mode in the beta, the enemies are fairly weak, so Storm Armor is my armor of choice. Weaker enemies usually take themselves out in one hit when they swing against it!

Previous to last Tuesday night, the most people showing up for an event was about 250 (estimated), and usually no more than 100 showed up. I have no idea how many people showed up to the Server Maintenance Party, but it was in the hundreds. Multiple hundreds. Lots and lots of people showed up to steal the Alliance fires. Soooo many. Here is my general SWTOR Jedi Consular Companion Guide. Hopefully it will give you all the information you need on the Companions you receive as a Consular. Once you hit level 10 you will have a choice on which advanced class you would like to pursue. This can either be the Healing and DPS role-the Jedi Sage, or the Tanking and DPS role of the Jedi Shadow. Regardless of which role you choose, you will still gain the same Companions along the way!

Qyzen-Fess

Qyzen will be your first Companion as a Jedi Consular, who you will find towards the end of your starter planet; Tython. He believes that everything that happens is controlled by “the great Scoremaster”. This is basically a reference to god, and he agrees to join your team as swtor credits he believes it will please her. Obviously he won’t be very useful to those of you choosing a healing role, but for those choosing a Jedi Shadow he may prove handier. She can be found on the Planet Belsavis and has a light personality. She specializes in being a melee DPS, which will be useful to those playing as a Jedi Shadow . You should get her at around level 41, though it depends on the speed of which you complete your class quests. She is a romance-able Companion if you decide to play as a male character.

Michigan Primary Pits Mitt Romney's Head Against Rick Santorum's Heart

DETROIT -- Mitt Romney certainly has a heart, and Rick Santorum a brain. But right now, neither is getting much attention.

As the Republican presidential race in Michigan comes down to the wire with the former Massachusetts governor and the former Pennsylvania senator neck and neck, Romney remains on message, and Santorum continues to be all over the place.

Romney stuck with his economic message Monday, as he has all campaign.

"The reason that I'm going to beat Barack Obama in Michigan in the fall is that this is going to be a contest about who can strengthen the economy," Romney told supporters in Royal Oak Monday night. "We'll look at his record -– and it's been a failure -– and we'll look at my record and the successes I've had in the private sector, the Olympics and in my state, and I'm going to be able to talk about the economy with credibility he doesn't have."

Romney made things a little more interesting than usual by appearing runescape gold with musician Kid Rock, a supporter, producing the jarring image of the clean-cut Romney and the long-haired Kid Rock shaking hands after a performance of "Born Free," Romney's campaign anthem.

But Romney has failed to decisively overtake Santorum. Romney leads Santorum in the Real Clear Politics poll average by less than two percentage points, 37.3 percent to 35.8 percent. However, PPP pointed out that "18 percent of the electorate has already cast its ballots [in early voting] and with those voters in the bank Romney has a 56-29 advantage," meaning Santorum will have to win election day voters "by a wide margin to erase the lead Romney has stored."

Republicans in Arizona will also vote Tuesday. But because that state will award all 29 of its delegates to whoever wins the popular vote, there was never much incentive for Santorum to compete hard there. Romney is expected to win the state.

In Michigan, 28 of 30 delegates will be awarded by congressional district. Candidates will earn two delegates for every congressional district in which they win the most votes. There are 14 districts, and the remaining two delegates will be awarded based on who wins the most cheap wow gold votes statewide.

The Republican nominee will need 1,144 delegates to secure the nomination.

Romney and Santorum likely will be close in popular vote, and each will get a double-digit number of delegates. It's possible that one man could win the statewide popular vote while losing the delegate contest.

The Arizona delegate yield will help Romney. Nonetheless, he will only be moving from 123 delegates to roughly 170 delegates or so, while Santorum will edge up from 72 by whatever amount he wins.

The Santorum campaign was already claiming a victory on Monday: "No matter what the results are, we've won. This is Romney's home state," Santorum adviser John Brabender told CNN.

That prompted Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul to retort: "You don't win by losing."

But the definition of a win will be the subject of debate Tuesday, given Romney's continued difficulty in convincing his own party that he is the best standard-bearer.

And so the lengthy, bitter primary will muddle on to Super Tuesday on March 6, when 11 states will vote and 419 delegates will be up for grabs. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich will be looking to reemerge as a factor in the race on that day as well, having skipped the contests in Arizona and Michigan to focus on his adopted home state of Georgia and other Southern contests that day in Oklahoma and Tennessee.

"You're going to have to ask yourselves, and ask your neighbors, and people across Michigan and across the nation are going to have to say, 'What do we want in our next president?' We know what we have now: A guy who's an eloquent speaker who made a lot of promises he hasn't been able to keep," Romney said in Royal Oak.

"What do you want in the next president?" he repeated.

"You!" an audience member shouted.

"Well thank you," Romney said. "I believe you want someone who understands how to get the economy working."

"To get that spot of course, I've first got to be our nominee," he said with a chuckle.

Slavery and the Presidents: Where Is the Public Acknowledgement?

On Feb. 9, a member of Congress took an important step in attempting to educate the nation about an important slice of history relative to the White House. Rep. Gary Ackerman (D-NY) sent a letter to President Barack Obama to suggesting that the latter find a way to commemorate those enslaved individuals who helped to build the White House.







The letter stated, in part, "An acknowledgement of the role of slave labor displayed in the White House would be an important swtor credits symbol that the United States does not run from its history, but rather learns from it." The White House, of course, is an important icon of the nation's identity but embodies one of its most long-standing contradiction: a revolution against tyranny that maintain (and expanded) the enslavement of millions.

Congressional Budget Cuts Could Slash Job Opportunities for Fema

Earlier this week, proposed congressional budget cuts in 2013 spending called for steep reductions in employment related programs, including a 12 percent cut to the U.S. Department of Labor. This significant decrease would adversely impact employment training programs for women veterans and women victims of violence who are struggling to find employment.

According to their 2013 budget request, the Department swtor credits of Labor's allocation for the existing Pathways Back to Work Fund would be significantly reduced. This fund helps current low-income adult workers gain new skills in order to stay in the workforce long-term.
